Company/Group Classes
Your hygienists need BLS. Your dental assistants need CPR. Your front office needs the basics in case the lobby becomes the emergency. And the California Dental Board doesn’t accept shortcuts. A-B-CPR has been certifying San Diego dental practices since 1998. We run AHA BLS Provider classes most days of the week at Mission Valley and Oceanside, blended sessions for staff who can’t take a full afternoon off, and on-site classes where we close out your entire practice in one visit. Walk back into the operatory with a same-day eCard.
Who in a dental practice needs what
| Role | What they typically need | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Dentist (DDS, DMD) | AHA BLS Provider | California Dental Board CE renewal requirement; sedation permits require current BLS |
| Dental Hygienist (RDH) | AHA BLS Provider | RDH license renewal requirement (every 2 years) |
| Registered Dental Assistant (RDA / RDAEF) | AHA BLS Provider | RDA license requirement |
| Dental Assistant (DA, non-licensed) | CPR/AED or BLS, depending on practice policy | Practice-dependent; most San Diego practices require BLS |
| Front office / billing / scheduling | Combination CPR/AED & First Aid | Often required by practice safety policy; reassures patients |
| Sedation team (DOCS, oral surgeon, anesthesiologist) | AHA BLS Provider (sometimes ACLS / PALS separately) | Sedation permit requirement; A-B-CPR issues BLS and refers ACLS / PALS to partner training centers |

What the California Dental Board accepts
A-B-CPR is an AHA Training Center. The card we issue is the AHA BLS Provider eCard, verifiable through AHA’s official system. It’s the card the Dental Board, your malpractice carrier, and your sedation reviewer will all accept the first time.
We are not affiliated with the California Dental Board. The above reflects current accepted-card patterns as we understand them. Always confirm with the Board or your license renewal contact.
Three formats — pick what fits your practice
Format 1 — In-person at our two San Diego locations
San Diego – Mission Valley Classroom
3717 Camino del Rio S, San Diego, CA 92108
Our Mission Valley classroom is centrally located and ideal for participants coming from downtown San Diego, Mission Valley, and surrounding areas. Classes at this location include hands-on CPR and First Aid instruction and meet OSHA, workplace, and certification requirements.
Best for: Central and South San Diego residents, healthcare professionals, and individuals attending class on their own.
Oceanside Classroom
4083 Oceanside Blvd, Suite B, Oceanside, CA 92056
Our Oceanside classroom serves North County San Diego and nearby coastal communities. This location offers the same high-quality, instructor-led CPR and First Aid certification courses in a convenient North County setting.
Best for: North County San Diego, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, and surrounding areas.
Format 2 — Blended (online theory + in-person skills check)
Your hygienists work clinic hours. Blended is the format most dental staff pick. Theory online at home or between patients. Skills check at our location in 1 to 2 hours. Same-day eCard. Same AHA BLS Provider card. Less time out of the operatory.
Format 3 — On-site at your practice
Got a five-person hygiene team? Closing the office for an annual safety day? We come to you. We bring manikins, AED trainers, BLS materials, and the certification documentation. Most San Diego dental practices that book on-site run the class on a lunch-and-learn extended block or a half-day clinic shutdown. Pricing is based on your group and training needs.
We’ve trained dental practices across San Diego County and into Orange County. Email mike@a-b-cpr.com or call (619) 281-3304 for a quote.
Why San Diego dental practices choose A-B-CPR
- AHA Training Center, not a reseller. Every BLS card is issued under our AHA Training Center number. Direct AHA, not a third-party relabel. The Dental Board, your malpractice carrier, and your sedation reviewer all verify the same way.
- On-site at your practice. We close out a hygiene team in a half day. We turn a Saturday morning into an annual safety refresh for the whole office. No driving across town for ten different appointment times.
- Family-owned, 25+ years. Mike Long bought A-B-CPR in 1998 and still teaches. AHA BLS Training Center Faculty for the Western Region. He’ll pick up the phone.
- 650+ five-star Google reviews. Read them. Dental practice managers come back because the class is good and the scheduling is easy.
- Same-day eCard. Your RDH walks out of class with the card in her AHA account before she gets back to the parking lot. No waiting for a mailed certificate.
- We coordinate the whole team. Tell us you’ve got two hygienists, three assistants, and a front-office person. We’ll book the right class for each role, or run the on-site that covers all of them in one visit.
“We’ve been sending our practice to A-B-CPR for years. Mike is responsive, the renewals are easy to coordinate, and the staff actually likes the class. That’s rare.” — verified Google review, San Diego dental practice manager
