YMCA building in San Diego supporting Health and Safety Training Grant for childcare providers

YMCA Health and Safety Training Grant: A Valuable Opportunity for Childcare Providers (Updated 2025)

If you’re a childcare provider in San Diego County, you may be eligible for free or reduced-cost CPR, First Aid, and Preventative Health Practices training through the YMCA Health and Safety Training Grant. This grant is designed to help providers meet California’s EMSA training requirements while reducing out-of-pocket costs.

At A-B-CPR & First Aid Training Inc., we proudly accept YMCA Training Access Codes for qualifying courses, making it easier for you to stay compliant and confident in emergency care situations.

What Is the YMCA Childcare Training Grant?

The Health and Safety Training Grant from the YMCA Childcare Resource Service offers Training Access Codes to eligible applicants. These codes cover part—or all—of the cost for state-mandated CPR, First Aid, and Preventative Health courses.

This initiative is funded to support the requirements set by AB243 and is processed on a first-come, first-served basis while funds remain available.

Who Is Eligible?

You may qualify if you’re part of any of the following:

  • Center-Based Childcare Programs: One director, one assistant director, and one teacher per classroom
  • Licensed Family Child Care Providers: The licensee, co-licensee, and up to two assistants/helpers
  • TrustLine Providers: License-exempt caregivers listed on the TrustLine registry

Each individual must submit their own application, and all applications must be correctly completed to be considered.

Where Can You Use Your YMCA Training Access Codes?

Your access codes can only be used at contracted EMSA training organizations, such as A-B-CPR & First Aid Training Inc. We are proud to partner with the YMCA to offer approved Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and Preventative Health training for:

  • Licensed family childcare providers
  • Preschool and daycare centers
